Fred Wesley Generations: The Art of the Trio

Decades after his groundbreaking work with James Brown and George Clinton established him as one of the architects of funk, Fred Wesley has launched a new project that connects his jazz roots with the future: Generations.

Generations is an adaptable trio featuring Fred Wesley on trombone, Leonardo Corradi on organ, and French drummer Tony Match. The three musicians originally came together to pay tribute to the soulful jazz of legendary organist Jimmy Smith. Their chemistry was undeniable, and they’ve continued grooving together ever since.

Their performances blend Wesley’s vast experience and talent, honed through collaborations with artists ranging from Count Basie and Ray Charles to Lenny Kravitz and D’Angelo, with Corradi’s energetic tribute to Smith and other jazz greats. This is further enhanced by Match’s jazz drumming, infused with unique influences such as African rhythms and electronic sounds.
